About Dr Saima Ali

Jennie Chapman, Clinical Psychologist

Dr Saima Ali is a GP and neurodiversity specialist with a focus on neurodevelopmental
assessments, mental health, and women’s ADHD. Having worked in the NHS since 2005 and as a
GP since 2012, she brings a wealth of clinical experience and a warm, person-centred approach to
her work.

Her special interest lies in understanding ADHD in women — how it can present differently and
often remain unrecognised until adulthood. She is particularly interested in the “below the neck”
manifestations of ADHD, exploring how neurodevelopmental differences can affect weight,
metabolism, and gastrointestinal health. Her approach integrates both the psychological and
physical dimensions of ADHD, recognising the complex ways in which the condition can influence
wellbeing and daily functioning.

In her clinical practice, Dr Ali is known for her ability to create a safe and validating space for
patients to explore their experiences. She has a growing portfolio in neurodevelopmental
assessments, specialising in ADHD and autism, and she also works as a GP consultant supporting
multidisciplinary teams in private practice.

Through her work, Dr Ali aims to promote better recognition of neurodiversity within healthcare and
to bridge the gap between mental and physical health — helping individuals understand themselves
more fully and access the right support at the right time.
