About Melissa Robertson

Speech and Language Therapist

Aimee Laming, Speech and Language Therapist

Melissa is a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and Audiologist, having graduated in 2008. She now works primarily as a Speech and Language Therapist. She has spent many years in the NHS, supporting children and their families across a range of settings, including nurseries, mainstream schools and a specialist Speech and Language Resource. She loves getting to know each child as an individual and helping families feel understood, supported and confident about the journey ahead.

Melissa has a particular interest in Selective Mutism and is passionate about helping children build confidence in their communication. She has completed extensive professional development in Selective Mutism, Developmental Language Disorder and Significant Speech Sound disorders, equipping her with strong knowledge and experience to support children with diverse communication needs. Her approach is always gentle, practical and tailored to each child and family.

As a parent herself and with lived experience of Autism and ADHD, Melissa brings both professional expertise and genuine personal understanding to her work. She knows how important it is for parents and carers to feel heard and involved, and she values working together to find positive, realistic ways forward for every child. Outside of work, Melissa enjoys reading and all things crafty, reflecting her warm and creative approach both in and out of the therapy room.
