About Dr Rachel Weerasinghe

Jennie Chapman, Clinical Psychologist

Dr Rachel Weerasinghe is a Consultant Community Paediatrician with specialist expertise in the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism spectrum disorder and ADHD.

With many years of experience in Community Paediatrics, she offers comprehensive, high-quality assessments tailored to each child and young person. Her approach is careful, considered, and individualised, combining detailed clinical evaluation with an understanding of the child’s broader developmental, educational, and family context.

Dr Weerasinghe is also a Consultant at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where she also holds the role of Autism Lead. She has been closely involved in shaping and delivering diagnostic services, with particular expertise in multidisciplinary assessments and supporting children with more complex developmental profiles.

She is committed to providing a clear and supportive experience for families, ensuring that assessments are thorough, outcomes are carefully explained, and recommendations are both practical and meaningful. Her work is characterised by professionalism, attention to detail, and a compassionate, collaborative approach.

Outside of her clinical work, she values time with her family and understands the importance—and challenges—of balancing busy family life, bringing an added depth of empathy to her work with children and parents.
