An Occupational Therapist (OT) can offer a comprehensive Understanding Sensory Needs Assessment that can be incredibly beneficial for parents of children with autism and sensory processing difficulties. This assessment focuses on identifying the unique sensory challenges that a child faces and provides tailored strategies to support the child’s daily functioning and overall well-being.
What does an appointment involve?
Before the appointment:
- We will ask you and your child’s school to complete questionnaires
- Review of any relevant reports from professionals who have seen your child
Together we will paint the individual picture of your child’s sensory needs. This might involve formal sensory assessments, detailed discussion and completing some fun activities!
- Approximately 1.5 hours face to face in our clinic rooms in Wallingford
- Verbal feedback is given on the day with the results of the assessment
